Background
Phonak, a leading name in the hearing aid industry, is renowned for its leadership among clinic-prescribed brands. In the past year, Phonak sold more in-clinic hearing aids than any other competitor. Their latest release, the Phonak Audéo Infinio, promises to continue the brand’s leadership with updates in durability, a chip overhaul, and a stronger Bluetooth connection.
The Phonak Audéo Infinio is the brand’s standard model, offering excellent all-around features. Unlike its sibling product, the Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio, the standard model does not have onboard AI but instead relies on Phonak’s robust training models for sound management.

What's New
Phonak Audéo Infinio offers a few notable upgrades over Phonak's previous flagship products.
Chip Overhaul
The Audéo Infinio features a new chip architecture designed to optimize sound processing and enhance the overall listening experience. This update aims to deliver clearer sound quality and improve the hearing aid's ability to manage various auditory environments effectively. In Phonak’s initial user tests, 93% of wearers preferred the initial fitting of the new platform compared to competitors.
Enhanced Bluetooth Connectivity
Phonak has strengthened the Bluetooth® capabilities of the Audéo Infinio, allowing for seamless streaming and hands-free calling across a greater distance than previous models. The brand claims that the new Audéo Infinio can maintain a streaming connection with your phone at twice the distance of its predecessors.
Improved Durability
The Audéo Infinio boasts improved durability, including advanced waterproofing. These enhancements make the hearing aids more resilient to the challenges of daily use, offering users greater peace of mind. Phonak has integrated their previous innovations from the Phonak Life series into the entire line of receiver-in-canal devices.
While we still don’t recommend lap swimming with these hearing aids, Phonak’s tests indicate that they can withstand occasional exposure to water.
Infinio vs. Sphere Infinio
While the Audéo Infinio offers a range of upgraded features, it differs from its sibling, the Audéo Sphere Infinio, primarily in its approach to sound processing. The Sphere model incorporates onboard AI technology, enabling it to dynamically adapt to complex sound environments. Audéo Infinio uses a single chip while Audéo Sphere Infinio uses a dual chip system to increase power.
Both models cater to different user needs, with the Infinio serving as a versatile option for those seeking reliable performance without the new AI processing.
Our Take
Phonak’s hearing aids have long been favored for their Bluetooth Classic connection style, which allows for easy connection to multiple devices simultaneously and hands-free calling for both Android and iPhones. Based on what we’ve heard so far, the Audéo Infinio should maintain this advantage.
If you are in the market for a clinic-prescribed brand or are a long-time Phonak user, the Audéo Infinio should certainly be on your shortlist. The biggest decision you may need to make is whether the standard Infinio model or the AI-powered Sphere model is right for you.
We expect that the Phonak Audéo Infinio will quickly become a top-selling clinic-prescribed product on the market. Phonak consistently delivers strong sound quality, excellent fitting features, and a quality smartphone app. We’ll update this review in the coming months once we’ve had a chance to fully experience the new product first-hand.
